Anyone can now help the IPFS swarm, with no Matrix server of their own.
Host
- A new Host section in the menu sets up this machine or a Linux server over SSH (systemd, x86 or ARM) to keep the newest signed publish and share it with the swarm.
- Pick any mix of what to host: the container images (about 16 GB), the OS, Docker and Python packages (3.7 GB), the playbook and its roles in git (50 MB), and interzone and IPFS themselves (230 MB).
- An hourly timer on that machine fetches each new publish and lets the old one go, so interzone doesn't need to stay open. It listens on TCP 4001. To stop:
systemctl disable --now interzone-ipfs-follow.timer interzone-ipfs. - While it hosts, the Host screen shows live statistics: peers, how much of each part has arrived, download and upload speed with a small graph, what it gave the swarm, disk use, and when it checks next. Type in a server that already hosts and its numbers appear.
Also
- A download that gets nothing new for 20 minutes gives up, and the next hourly check moves to the newest publish, instead of waiting forever.
- A freshly started node retries finding the publish for a few minutes instead of failing its first update.
- The Mirrors screen and
interzone mirrorscheck the IPFS swarm too.
